4th Largest Unofficial City in America!

As merchant Captain Hunnewell sails off to Canton, China as a passenger aboard a sandalwood run, he notes in his log the plans of the other ships. Captain Reynolds of the Sultan was remaining in port.  He was the one who had paid off Joseph back on Hawaii on Aug. 24 for his work. So Reynolds would have been seeing Joseph around Honolulu’s waterfront. Nothing unusual is noted. So, again, indirect proof that Joseph was moving freely about his business. Hunnewell mentions the number of cannons on the patriot ships La Argentina and Santa Rosa from Buenos Ayres — they planned to sail in a few days. Of interest — a small schooner was bought by Americans to sail in company of the Spanish patriots. That’s the only mention I’ve ever heard of that!
